RHS Chelsea 2014 – Help for Heroes Garden…Hope on the Horizon
0 Written by Lisa on 22nd May 2014 in InspirationChelsea always feels as if the focus on the show gardens is in Main Avenue, but the main show gardens continue elsewhere and the Hope for Heroes garden in Royal Hospital Way was beautiful.
The Granite blocks represent the soldier’s physical well being and the planting reflects their psychological well being.
I love the contrast between hard and soft landscaping here – the pillars really do hold the whole garden together.
Lupins feature heavily at Chelsea this year and in this garden, along with the foxgloves, they really stole the show.
Hope on the Horizon was designed by Matt Keightley, sponsored by David Brownlow Charitable Foundation and built by Farr & Roberts.
The garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt Flora medal.
