RHS Chelsea 2014 – The Laurent-Perrier Garden…Best in Show!
0 Written by Lisa on 20th May 2014 in InspirationTo continue my coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show I thought it was appropriate to feature The Laurent-Perrier Garden which today was awarded a Gold Medal and Best Show Garden.
This is the 16th consecutive year that sponsor Champagne Laurent Perrier have been at The Chelsea Flower Show and this year Luciano Giubbilei returned to design the garden.
For me the design was typical of a Luciano garden – clean lines with strong geometry which is reminiscent of the gardens he creates for his clients.
But the planting in this garden is different and I believe he’s been working with Fergus Garrett at Great Dixter to learn more about the art of planting and I think this comes across within the garden.
I particularly like the domes of beech which are very structural but with softness too. And the strong geometry of the pool with the stepped edges and water rills.
This wasn’t my favourite show garden, not because it wasn’t beautiful, more because I didn’t take as much inspiration as I did from other gardens, but I can absolutely see why it won Best in Show – huge congratulations to Luciano and the team at Crocus who built the garden!
